From now until the OuiShare Fest, we will be publishing a weekly video post of our speakers to raise discussions that we look forward to continuing at the Fest. [embed]https://vimeo.com/116473165[/embed] This a speech at the Big Brother's Award 2014 by Aral Balkan, a designer & social entrepreneur creating independent technologies that protect our fundamental freedoms & democracy. He works at Ind.ie to build one such alternative. Aral Balkan is one of the speakers of the inspiring lineup of OuiShare Fest 15. In his above talk, he states:
[...] You need to build systems, companies that are sustainable; there are other ways of doing that. It needs to be free and open, the products that we make. The products that we make have to be distributed in their topology so there are no centres. De-centralised is not good enough; de-centralised means there are still centres. [...] We need to go beyond that to build things where there are no centres, where every node is equal.
We are excited to discuss this alternative with Aral Balkan under one of this year's Fest tracks: "The revolution will not be centralized". We are using the hashtag #OSFest15 to connect your thoughts and comments. Join us in May, 20-22 at Cabaret Sauvage, Paris!
